Sound DVD

The 'Sound DVD" is a video soundtrack on DVD. Each disc contains music videos of various songs from the Devil May Cry games. The disc plays like a regular DVD, so you can't listen to the songs like an audio CD. The discs use region 2 coding which means mainly Japan and European DVD players can properly read the discs. There are bootleg versions released which are region free and these can be played on any player. Regardless of the version you choose, these music videos are a joy as an audio and visual experience. As an additional treat, there is a commentary book included with each disc.

All songs are from DMC except for the last track which is from DMC2. Most of the songs are from battles but there are some background songs from levels too. Also included on the DVD are trailer clips for the first and second games. The disc is approximately 71 minutes long. It was released in Japan in October 2002.

The commentary book has music composer Masami Ueda discussing about each of the songs. The book has about 50 pages and text is written in both English and Japanese. The pages are sprinkled with CG artwork and color illustrations throughout.

Now we have music videos for DMC2. Most tracks are from battles, but there are a couple background songs too. The bonus track is a funky remix of the "Dance with Devils" song and it is ten minutes long! The great thing about having alternative outfits in the game is that they make pretty good visual fodder in music videos, and this remix proves it! Also included on the disc are a few audio tracks and a trailer for DMC3. The disc is approximately 55 minutes long. It was released in Japan in August 2004.

The commentary book has all three music composers of DMC2 talking about their works: Masato Kouda, Tetsuya Shibata and Satoshi Ise. The book has about 50 pages and text is written in English and Japanese. There is cool CG and penciled artwork.
